Kokoda Memorial Trial

It's back to 1000 steps today for training. Steps are pretty muddy and slippery cause it was raining past few days. Good to know my shoes aren't good on muddy trails.
1000 steps is also known as the Kokoda trail, in memory of all the dead soldiers in the Galipoli war. There is a small memorial erected at the foothills of 1000 steps with all the deceased soldiers name written on a wall. So tomorrow I expect there will be quite a crowd going there to pay tribute. So Bits and I decided to do some other activity.

.
Meanwhile ANZAC biscuits are everywhere like bwa kua on CNY. The Galipoli war is a very sad war as our soldiers are sent there as a diversion - to distract Turkey and hopefully divide their troops so that the UN can send ammo to Russia. It didn't work because Turkey is one hell of a fighting machine and Germany helped them. So all 8000 AU and NZ soldiers died in vain really.
Next time British asked for help, we were smarter in how we helped them. We refuse to be led by them and we produced one of the best war commanders on all time - John Marsh. Might not remember his name correctly. Anyway we fought better once we commanded our own army.
Happy that tomorrow is a public holiday !
